Residencies Awarded at Interface for 2023 and 2024

Interface is delighted to announce our artist residency recipients for 2023, 2024 & 2025. Artists were selected by an artist panel earlier this year.

Galway County Council Arts Office Residency for 2023 was awarded to Noeline Kavanagh.

Noeline Kavanagh is an award winning director receiving critical acclaim for their pioneering approach to large scale outdoor and indoor spectacle. Noeline has  worked as a director and artist with -Theatre du Soleil (France), South Bank London Festival, BBC North West, Rough Magic Theatre (Dublin), Abbey- National Theatre (Ireland) Welfare State International  (UK) Liverpool Lantern Company (Uk),  Bread And Puppet (USA). SxSw Festival (USA) Woodford Folk Festival, (AU) Els Comediants,(Spain). As performance facilitator work includes artist in residence at Fatima Mansions Dublin, artist with Tallaght Community Arts Centre and artistic director of Carlow Youth Theatre. Workshops and talks in Spectacle arts practice with IADT, NUIG, Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College, Stage and Screen Ireland, Inspirefset and Circostada.

Former Artistic Director/ CEO of Ireland’s leading spectacle company, Macnas, stepping down from this role in December 2022.

Galway City Council Arts Office Residency for 2023 was awarded to Jane Cassidy.

Jane Cassidy is a multi-disciplinary artist and educator from Galway City. Trained in music and digital media, Jane earned a Masters in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College Dublin in 2008 and an MFA in Digital Art from Tulane University, New Orleans in 2014. Her main interests lie in immersive audiovisual environments, multisensory work and synesthesia. She has had solo exhibitions at Customs House Gallery, Westport; Pallas Projects, Dublin; the Mobile Museum of Art; and the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Michigan. In addition, Jane has worked on collaborative projects such as Aibreán at the Museum of Country Life, Making Space at the Galway Arts Center, Babies In Space at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, and with Animal Collective at the Music Box, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Residencies Awarded in 2024 are funded by the the Arts Council of Ireland. Artists offered residencies for 2024 & 2025 are:
