We are delighted to announce an exciting 3 day bronze casting workshop with sculptor Holger C. Lönze.
This 3-day workshop will give participants a practical insight into the material culture and technology of the Medieval period, bringing local archaeology and history alive. The participants will design and make small medieval handbells in bronze using the lost wax metal working technology of the Medieval.

Taking environmental issues into consideration, the participants will be using carbon-neutral charcoal pit furnaces together with local, abundant and regenerative materials, gaining valuable hands-on experience in all stages of this sustainable craft process. The focus will be on making medieval Irish handbells (c. 3” high). Making forged/folded iron bells and making oak gall ink to be used for designing the bells.
