Philip Fogarty at Interface – March 2024

Open Day 2pm, Saturday 23rd March

We are delighted to be hosting Philip Fogarty. Philip Fogarty is a composer, performer and sound artist. He has toured his work with live ensembles in various configurations both in Ireland and abroad. His output ranges from his roots in Irish traditional to rock, electronica and contemporary, and embraces forms from conventional live performance to audience-interactive participatory formats and multimedia. Recent work & commissions include Longford Lights Festival – Still Spinning Rainbows (2024), Cavan Arts/Townhall Cavan  – Pulse Music (2024)
Music for Galway / Galway 2020 / Irish National Opera    – I Claim Sanctuary (2022)

Please join us at 2pm on Saturday 23rd March, as Philip shares some of his music. The talk will touch on the processes which impel the artist’s journey in music, sound and visuals, along with giving an overall background to his recent activities.

Philip’s 2024 work Pulse Music, which opened recently in the Townhall Arts Centre Cavan, will also run in the Interface space as part of the presentation. This is a live interactive work in progress which examines our relationship with our own artistic process through a boundary-pushing reactive format; the piece takes up and responds to the sounds and movements of visitors in both audio and visual terms, and continues a series by the artist which invites us to explore the liminal space of the person as simultaneous listener and performer.

All welcome
