Mary Lee Murphy

Mary Lee Murphy is a visual artist living and working in the west of Ireland. The focus in her art practice is exploring colour and textiles.
She works with a variety of materials such as silk organza and habotai, cotton and canvas. Her main technique is wax resist and dye, traditionally know as Batik. She also uses the technique of Shibori. Sewing and gilding also feature in her work. Drawing is an important part of her art practice. Mary Lee Murphy’s textiles and drawings have been widely exhibited.
