I am a French/Swiss artist. My training began growing up on a farm in Switzerland. I was accepted in the studio of the artist, Loul Schopfer, herself a student of Despiau. I was also a student violinist at the Lausanne conservatory. My paintings are abstract, as I am interested in the visual translation of the non-verbal language and inner feelings constantly being expressed just beneath the surface of our landscapes and our lives. The abstraction of music always interested me and I apply to my paintings the same processes of composition and improvisation. My practice begins with the intellectual summation of feelings and/or somatic sensations. I make a series of drawings until the associated shapes and colors surface and express themselves. From there, the process progresses using a technique I developed by applying paint to canvas in a measured and rhythmic fashion.

I was born in Germany to French parents and raised in Switzerland. I lived in New York City for over 30 years, and I now live and work in the wild calm of the North Mayo coast.
