Aidan Crotty

Aidan is a painter based in Sligo whose practice focuses primarily on observed accounts of the overlooked and the wider environment that surrounds him. His recent work emphasises the impact of human activity on ecosystems and our modification of the natural world. Painting from found objects in the studio or outdoors in plein air, he responds to what’s at hand with the immediacy of direct experience. By allowing the paint itself to convey the mood, subjects such as natural or architectural forms serve as anchors within the reality of the painted surface.

(b.1980 Waterford) Aidan received his BA (Hons) from Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork in 2004 He participated in the painting mentorship programme with Turps Banana (UK) 2021- 2023.
