Award-winning artist Kate Bedell’s paintings are informed by the natural world of her environment. She creates sensitive and expressive paintings in watercolour and mixed media.
Her paintings explore a variety of themes, including nature, flowers, landscapes, as well as mythical and ethereal subjects. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty and woodlands of Marlay Park where she has a studio gallery, Kate showcases her sketchbooks, paintings, and mandalas, all rooted in her artistic experiences within the park.
Kate gained recognition by appearing on Channel 4 TV’s “Watercolour Challenge” and was later interviewed on RTE’s Nationwide with the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club’s plein air event at the Dublin Docks. Her paintings have been shown in the RHA and bought by corporate collections such as Tesco Ireland, Microsoft Ireland, and Beaumont Hospital. She is a member of the Water colour Society of Ireland.
Having spent seven years in India with her family, the rich colours and textures of her experiences have significantly influenced her work. Currently, she divides her time between painting in her charming studio in the Courtyard, which was home to artist Evie Hone, and immersing herself in painting the landscape in Connemara.
