Caitríona Lane

Resting

Do not dismiss me as a crone,
My veins gnarled, my skin punctured.
Windswept.
Drenched by Atlantic waters.
Do not dismiss me as a crone.
I am simply resting here a while
On the branch of a Rowan
Hitching a ride as I sky fall
Returning to source to slumber
Sleeping my way through to spring.
At Imbolc you will glimpse my buds
When the May Queen appears, this crone disappears
For I am Sycamore,
Verdant, vital.
