Maeve Curley

Maeve Curley is a graduate architect by trade but studied through hand drawing, model making and photography at SAUL. She is influenced by art, architecture, physical movement and the Irish landscape. In her final year thesis ‘Civic Games’ she worked through drawing and collage. Her thesis proposed that Limerick city host the Olympics. And to build a layer of Olympic infrastructure on top of the city. This layer would be built on top of the existing Georgian grid. The stadia built in a way that what is be left behind is civic space, it is for the city and it’s citizens.

Her collages were influenced by the work ‘Irelantis’ by the artist Sean Hillen who visited the school while she was working. ‘Civic Games’ was shortlisted for the Young Talent Architecture Awards. And one of her collages was exhibited as part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture.

She has been working as an architect in the west of Ireland and Marseille in France. While in France she studied a diploma in Digital Media Studies. She also does graphic and logo design for small businesses in Mayo. She is currently based in Westport working on collage of rural photographs of Mayo and doing consulting work in Architecture.
