Zoë is a visual and performance artist with a multidisciplinary practice.
After graduating in 2004 with a degree in Performance and Scenography, she devised and performed work internationally.
Zoë moved to Ireland 19 years ago, settling in the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht, and her work grew more socially-engaged. She now designs and facilitates many creative and environmental projects with children and communities, and creates site-responsive performances and artworks.
Recently she created installations at IMMA’s Earth Rising festival (with Oikos Artist Collective), and for Cogar-Other Voices, and held solo exhibition Ceann Scríbe mapping a series of walks. This year she will premier a short film, I mBliana, and embark on the shared role of embedded artist in the Maharees for their ‘Creative Coastal Resilience’ project.
Voluntary environmental work, a love of learning about ecology, and a reciprocal relationship with nature influence my artwork. My work responds to site; I use colour from the land – plant inks, earth pigments and found metal. I like to create encounters that ignite curiosity and a sense of wonder and belonging in nature, that hopefully result in empathy and care for the environment and each other.
