Mary Donnelly

Mary Donnelly is a Fine Art graduate from the College of Marketing and Design in Dublin. Originally from Co. Louth, she moved in 1991 from Dublin’s Temple Bar to Connemara, ‘a place of extreme weather and sublime beauty’. The landscape of this harsh environment continues to inspire her and features in most of her landscape painting.

Donnelly has received many accolades throughout her career, among them the Oriel Gallery Award for a landscape of distinction at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 2004, and The National Self-Portrait Collection Award. She also received the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2013. She has received many bursaries, including the Arts Council of Ireland Travel and Training Award, Galway County Council Individual Artists Bursary, Galway County Council Tyrone Guthrie Bursary, Galway County Council Artist Support Scheme, 2019, and Tyrone Guthrie–VCCA Exchange Fellowship. Donnelly has exhibited widely in solo and group shows nationally and internationally.
