We are OVER THE MOON to have been selected by IMMA as one of 4 projects to be presented at Earth Rising September 2025.
Bearing Witness is a powerful project, exploring the environmental and cultural impact of of the proposed offshore wind farm at Sceirde Rocks, Connemara, led by artists Jane Cassidy and Laney Mannion, ecologist Marie Louise Heffernan and curator Alannah Robins.
We will create immersive sound and light installations, participatory workshops, and seabird mapping, working with our communities and inviting audiences to engage with the delicate balance between renewable energy and marine biodiversity. Visitors will interact with a tactile, immersive installation to activate recordings of seabird calls, explore migration paths, and print woodcut stories based on local folklore.
We couldn’t be more excited to bring this urgent and thought-provoking conversation to Dublin. The project celebrates the unique richness of Ireland’s marine ecosystems—true jewels of its biodiversity. At the same time, it critically examines the industrialisation of our seas. We aim to amplify the voices of our neglected coastal communities, and to encourage a national conversation about sustainable climate action that protects both ecosystems and cultural heritage.
IMMA’s artistic director Annie Fletcher writes: “This project embodies the kind of thoughtful and nuanced approach we need when addressing the climate and biodiversity crisis. It will bring the voices of Ireland’s coastal communities into the heart of IMMA, underscoring the importance of listening to local knowledge and lived experience.”
