I did a residency week at Interface through Dublin Fringe Artist at Work scheme – while there, I was working on a play called Sheep! which is a play about sheep. It´s also a play about predatory behaviour and how prey can defend itself, and about flocks and belonging. First day at Interface I met a sheep on the grounds who wasn´t entirely convinced about my presence. This is the tension I want to explore, the moment of fleeing – or trusting. Life will always destroy and be destroyed (sheep cause a lot of damage!) but there has to be moments of surrender and love where the horror of destruction becomes bearable and worthwhile. Sheep! will be staged in November 2024 in Galway, and hopefully she gets a chance to wander to a multitude of fields after that. Baa!
