In the 1980s a state-of-the-art salmon hatchery building was constructed in the Inagh Valley in Connemara. This book traces the story of the facility, from it’s genesis and demise as a hatchery to its new life as a centre of scientific research and home to Interface, a studio and residency programme for artists. In this dramatic environment, artists are given the opportunity to explore the intersections between science and art.

The book includes work by some of the artists who took up a residency at Interface in the early years.
