Angela Williams came to live in Letterfrack, Co. Galway from the North of England 42 years ago, returning to Connemara where her mother was a native.
Angela’s interests lie in making objects and painting for the love of the materials, specifically wood, paint and pigments, gold leaf and colour.
For sculptures works she forages from her environment and natural woodlands, constantly on the lookout for materials that nature offers up. Looking for and finding appropriate materials for such artworks she finds inspiring.
She says she strives to find the palette of the land in her environment and intends that her work reflects this.
Her children fled the nest in Jan this year, so she had decided to fully commit to her artistic endeavours, giving her the time and energy needed to totally immerse herself passionately in her craft. The world too had other plans for 2020.
Angela was awarded an arts bursary by Galway County Council this year, February 2020.
A painting in Egg Tempera painting was accepted by the R.U.A for this year’s 139th annual exhibition.
Angela was longlisted for the R.D.S Visual Arts Award in 2017.
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes.
